4, 5 or 6 strings?

Well, it all starts at the beginning, there are several factors that influence this, like, what are you going to play? What's your taste? If it is recording, what does the producer ask for? And among other questions.

Grooveiros, what is your choice 4, 5 or 6 strings?

Well, it all starts at the beginning, there are several factors that influence this, like, what are you going to play? What’s your taste? If it is recording, what does the producer ask for? And among other questions.

But the most certain thing is that you feel good with whatever you choose, I will not say that there is no difference between them, because there are, they are all great and with different characteristics.

Today, as we have pedals it helps a little to use a 4-string bass for example and put a 5-string weight on it, it is a possibility for those who like it.

Let’s talk about those basses here.

4 STRINGS

A great bass for studies, to show and everything, like any bass from as many strings as it is. Who likes to play Funk, Grooves, Soul and so on, uses the 4-string, of course the 5 and 6-string are also good, but it’s your option.

The good thing about 4 strings is that for study it makes it a little easier, because the thickness of the neck is smaller, helping to avoid bumping into other strings.

It is a very top bass, but each case is different, and each taste is a taste.

5 STRINGS

A bass that acts in the middle, we recommend it for calmer songs, it provides a firm marking, defined and round notes. The 5-string bass provides more presence, due to its fifth string, it also serves for Grooves, Slap and studies as well. The spacing between the strings decreased slightly, making it possible to bump into the other strings.

Widely used in pagode, sertanejo, forró, heavy metal and the like, due to the seriousness and presence.

6 STRINGS

Bass more focused on phrases, chords, two hands, tappings and the like. As the width of the bass increases, it makes it possible to explore higher regions, facilitating these higher chords and phrases.

It helps a lot in the study of chord formation, 4 and 5 strings also help, however, in 6 strings, you have a greater possibility to create these chords and distribute more notes.

We recommend Pagode, forró, sertanejo and the like.

At the end of everything, we can say that everything goes through taste and need, research and test the sound you like.

We hope we helped.
Big hug.
