Since eight years, Joe Dart has always had a bass in his hands. Dart fell in love with the instrument and grew up replicating artists like Flea, Pino Palladino, Bernard EdWardas and Stevie Wonder’s left hand in several bands in Harbor Springs, Michigan.
His favorite timbre is that of Bernard Edwards on Chic records; a more medium sound footprint being pleasant and fun to the ear. His favorite bassist is Pino Palladino.
After growing up in his high school jazz group, Dart had the opportunity to go to Berklee College of Music, but he refused to stay closer to home and study music at the University of Michigan. That was the best decision of his life, as it took him to meet his best friends and bandmates from Vulpeck, Jack Stratton, Theo Katzman and Woody Goss.
The quartet met with the job of paying homage to the great rhythmic names of the past. Thanks to their strong online presence and high energy concerts, they achieved all this and more, so much so that when the band plays their song “Dean Town” live, the audience sings with great excitement the difficult bass lines of Dart with him note by note.
