Born on July 20, 1996, in Mumbai, India, Mohini Dey has become one of the most prominent bass guitarists in the world. With her distinctive style and virtuosity, she has collaborated with musical legends and has been recognized as one of the top bass players of her generation.

 

A Musical Start

Mohini’s father, Sujoy Dey, a well-known session bassist, introduced her to the bass guitar when she was just 3 years old. Fascinated by the instrument, she quickly began learning from him, and by age 10, Mohini was already recording professionally. Her talent caught the attention of legendary Indian drummer Ranjit Barot, who invited her to join his tours, marking the start of her professional career​.
